OPEN THREAD: BIG EAST Releases 2022-23 Schedule (UPDATED)

The discourse on this humble lunch blog has been so stellar recently that it deserves an open thread as we await the release of the BIG EAST Conference schedule for the Georgetown Hoyas and their 10 opponents. Today we find out when and where the Hoyas face their conference rivals.

There’s a lot to consider with whether a schedule is “good.” Of course, fans would like to see some big home weekend games down the stretch. Facing Villanova on a weekend at the Wells Fargo Center is a preference of many who join the Philly Hoyas in the club box.

Home attendance and crowds can certainly factor in big games of the BIG EAST, but Patrick Ewing and the team may be more focused on spacing, when the “bye” week occurs, and minimization of travel inconveniences. Arenas’ availability and TV rights—CBS likely licensing the TV rights to some games from FS1 and FOX—can also impact the schedule.

Georgetown has already made positive steps this year with an early release of their non-conference schedule:

The BIG EAST Conference Schedule is expected to begin in mid-December and the Big East Men’s Basketball Tournament will begin on Wednesday, March 8, 2023. We’ll see what happens.
