Before we get started here it’s important to recognize that the Georgetown, Big East and college basketball community as a whole lost an important man with the passing yesterday of Louis Orr.
Orr, 64, was in his sixth season with the Hoyas but has been part of the league since the formation in 1979 as a player with Syracuse. He will be missed by everyone.
We mourn the loss of an Orange legend - a player, a coach, and most importantly a great person who made everyone around him better.

Louis Orr's memory will live in our hearts forever, and especially whenever we look up and see his No. 55 in the Dome rafters. pic.twitter.com/X6KnKSfpQP
There’s no great transition here for the game but Georgetown and Xavier will begin Big East play tonight at Capital One Arena.
Xavier brings back an experience bunch and comes in after a solid showing in the non-conference under back-again coach Sean Miller. Georgetown of course enters league play after a not-so-great showing in the first phase of their season despite shuffling in almost an entirely new roster.

The Hoyas will try and break a few losing streaks tonight despite being a sizeable underdog at home. Georgetown has dropped their last 20 Big East regular season games dating back to the 2020-21 season. The Hoyas have also lost their last 25 games to power conference teams. With a trip to UConn looming next, stealing a game at home against Xavier might be one of their final chances of having a winning conference record at any point this season.
KenPom gives the Hoyas a 1.3% chance of finishing winless in the Big East for a second straight season.
Power conference schools with a non-zero chance to go winless in league play, per @kenpomeroy.
