The Eagles finished last season with a 4-6 record, including 4-5 in Patriot League play. AU earned the No. 5 seed in the Patriot League tournament, falling to No. 4 seed Army on the road in the quarterfinals. American is ranked #267 on kenpom.
American’s talent level on their roster for next season is a mystery to this humble blog contributor. AU did lose last year’s leading scorer Jamir Harris as a grad transfer to Seton Hall.
Georgetown beat American in 2019, 80-60, but the Hoyas lost a leading scorer after being whacked in the eye.
Schedule-wise, fans should expect to hear more non-conference opponents as the summer progresses. Earlier this week Hoyas fans learned of the matchups for the 2021 Gavitt Tipoff Games between teams form the BIG EAST and Georgetown is conspicuously absent.
The Hoyas currently have 5 games on the 2021-22 schedule, in addition to the expected 20 BIG EAST games.
- at South Carolina Gamecocks on Saturday, December 5th
- hosting Texas Christian University on Saturday, December 18 (BIG EAST-Big 12 Battle)
- two games from USC, Saint Joseph’s, and San Diego State on November 25 and 26 (Paycom Wooden Legacy - Anaheim)
- hosting American University
