Well, we all knew it would happen. Something had to give. Patrick Ewing and his staff are adding two transfers and five freshmen, so there must have been some roster news coming. TJ Berger has entered the transfer portal and will be leaving the Georgetown Hoyas.

This loss hurts more for development than in the short-term. Never short on confidence in his shot, Berger looked to be gaining confidence in his ballhandling.
Berger played 1 (abbreviated) year for Georgetown and had 69 minutes total. He will likely be remembered best for his pregame drills with Coach Crouch.

Berger will also be remembered for his smooth shot, especially two three pointers in the home win over St. John’s in December.
Triple Berger for the Hoyas!

Berger is reported to be very education-minded as he de-committed from Penn to play for Georgetown. However, this may be the best course for him as a student-athlete.
Frankly, shooting guard minutes will have tough competition next season with Donald Carey expected to return and additions in transfer Kaiden Rice and incoming guards Jordan Riley and Tyler Beard. Even with a three-guard offense, Aminu Mohammed is expected to play high minutes as a third guard at the wing.
TJ Berger is from the Philadelphia area and his father Seth is coach of basketball powerhouse Westtown School, as well as the founder of the sneaker/apparel company And1.

Last month, Georgetown lost Qudus Wahab to the transfer portal, but no one from the team else had left. Seniors Jamorko Pickett and Jahvon Blair are considered to be moving on to professional careers, as is grad transfer Chudier Bile, with a bonus year of eligibility left, under current rumors.
New additions in Tre King (EKU) and Kaiden Rice (The Citadel), via the transfer portal, along with five freshmen give Patrick Ewing and Georgetown an addition of 7+ new players next season.
Here is what the roster is expected to look like, as of now:
- Donald Carey GRAD G 6-5 (1 yr, plus bonus year left) *maybe returning
- Kaiden Rice GRAD G/F 6-7 (bonus year left) (committed 4/17)
- Tre King SR F/C 6-9 (1 yr, plus bonus year left) *new transfer
- Timothy Ighoefe SO C 7-0 (2 yrs, plus bonus year left)
- Malcolm Wilson RS-SO C 7-0 (3 yrs, plus bonus year left)
- Dante Harris FR G 6-0 (3 yrs, plus bonus year left)

Welcome TJ Berger! #HOYASAXA

Simple wins. Players need to be first class in their footwork, shot mechanics and ability to move without the ball. There’s no shot @GeorgetownHoops guard TJ Berger can’t make and that all comes back to his mastery of fundamentals. #jdgbasketball #shootersshoot #hoyasaxa pic.twitter.com/BOppPofr6O

Good luck to TJ in the future. We wish him the best.
UPDATE: Berger is headed to San Diego.
Former Georgetown grad assistant/video coordinator Martin Bahar is an assistant at San Diego

Bahar was with the Hoyas from 06-09 then followed Sydney Johnson to Princeton and Fairfield - dobo & assistant at both stops
