MEDIA OUTREACH: John Fanta Visits Georgetown, Ewing

The host gets Ewing to talk about Aminu, Dante, Kaiden, Tim, Mutombo, and more!

After a marathon session at BIG EAST Media Day, John Fanta of FOX Sports and BIG EAST Digital Media, traveled down to Washington, DC to meet and speak with Patrick Ewing about the Georgetown Hoyas.

Fanta’s trek was likely multifold—the two are likely filming part of Georgetown Men’s Basketball Season Preview to be held on November 4th.

As he typically does, Fanta offered some more insight into Ewing’s thoughts on his Georgetown team.

Fanta got Ewing talking about BIG EAST Preseason Freshman of the Year Aminu Mohammed:

Asked Patrick Ewing about Aminu Mohammed and of all the things the Georgetown head coach said, one thing stood out about the Big East Preseason Freshman of the Year - “Aminu...he just has this toughness that doesn’t stop.” The talent is there, but so is his mentality.

Fanta also asked Ewing about transfer wing Kaiden Rice:

Georgetown impact grad transfer addition Kaiden Rice — formerly of The Citadel — has attempted 794 threes in his 4 seasons of college basketball. He’ll take on that role of catch-and-shoot weapon for Patrick Ewing’s team, and Ewing loves Rice’s confidence in his shot.

Hoyas fans are looking for answers regarding the center position ahead of this season, and Fanta delivered some insight:

Georgetown has an interesting situation at the 5 with junior Timothy Ighoefe back, and he has a prime opportunity to take over the lead role at that spot. That being said, freshman Ryan Mutombo’s versatile offensive skillset has really jumped out in the preseason.

Fanta also reiterated the confidence that the coaches have in BIG EAST Tournament Most Outstanding Player Dante Harris:

While Georgetown is young, it cannot be overstated just how much confidence this staff has in their PG Dante Harris. And, when you go for 18 points, 5 assists and 0 turnovers in a win over Nova at the Big East Tournament, that alone says it all. Harris is poised for a leap.

Just in case those forget the poise of Dante Harris, here are some reminders.

Of course, Fanta also reflected on John Thompson’s presence at the practice center with his name on it.
