Kente Korner stepped away from basketball this week to catch up with Georgetown’s National Championship winning men’s soccer coach Brian Wiese!
Wiese - heading into his 15th season at Georgetown - has guided the Hoyas to eight of the last 10 NCAA Tournaments which includes two trips to the College Cup culminating in the 2019 National Title. It’s been a soccer decade for sure at Georgetown!
Latest Kente Korner is up!

We welcomed in Georgetown's national championship winning men's soccer coach Brian Wiese
We talked about handling the postponed season, relived the 2019 title run and much, much more!
Thanks to @wiese_brian @GUHoyasMSoccerhttps://t.co/xHByoamRI3
So, instead of defending their crown this fall the Hoyas will have to wait until the spring before taking the pitch due to the novel coronavirus pandemic.
In a really great conversation Coach Wiese explained how his team is handling the current situation before reliving last year’s dream season.
Wiese was kind enough to take time from his busy schedule that currently has him in England trying to learn a bit about how things are done with Championship side Wycombe Wanderers.
Wiese also explained how he went from the Ivy League to Zimbabwe to college coaching and then eventually landing the job at Georgetown.
We learned about his experiences with the late John Thompson Jr which included a great story from the Hoyas 2012 runner up season that included wins over both Syracuse and Maryland.
And, there’s also some breaking news which may or may not have to do with some kente in future Hoyas soccer kits.
Thanks again to Coach Wiese for the time and we hope to have him back soon!
