NCAA Basketball: Villanova at Georgetown Brad Mills-USA TODAY Sports

You know it’s good news when you run out of space for names in the headline. In a BIG EAST conference news release issued yesterday, it was announced that eight of your Georgetown Hoyas Men’s Basketball players were selected for All-Academic team honors. In order to be eligible for this honor in a given year, student athletes must maintain a 3.0 GPA or better.

We should all be proud of Terrell Allen, Chuma Azinge, Timothy Ighoefe, Jagan Mosely, George Muresan, Jaden Robinson, Qudus Wahab, and Malcolm Wilson. This is a meaningful & laudable academic accomplishment under normal circumstances, whatever those might be. With the tumultuous events that the team experienced through the winter and the pandemic that has upended life since then, it is even more admirable.

On the whole, 365 of Georgetown’s varsity athletes across all sports received this honor. We have lots of smart, motivated students representing our school in athletic competition. The entire roster of awardees is available from the BIG EAST through this link.

I would invite these student athletes to take a bow, but we all know that what they’d really like the chance to do is take a nap.
