ESPN’s 104.5 reported that “Carey was a standout player for the Siena Saints in 2019-2020. After joining Siena as a transfer from Mount St.Mary’s. In twenty eight starts for the Saints this past season, Carey averaged 11.3 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 2.4 assists while helping lead the team to a regular season conference championship.”

According to his bio at Mount St. Mary’s Carey is from Upper Marlboro, MD and “[t]ied season-high with 14 points four times, highlighted by a 14-point, six-rebound performance at Georgetown (Nov. 15).”

The Times Union indicates that Carey came to Siena for Jamion Christian and will be “graduating in three years with online courses this summer, [Coach] Maciariello said. He’ll be a graduate transfer with two years of eligibility able to play at his new school immediately.”

At GU, Carey joins newcomers in Jamari Sibley (F), Kobe Clark (G/F), T.J. Berger (G), Collin Holloway (Wing), and Dante Harris (G), as well as Arkansas graduate transfer Jalen Harris (PG), and grad transfer Chudier Bile. Tyler Beard (G) has deferred his enrolment a year due to COVID-19 concerns.

Now, it appears that there are no more scholarships available for this year. With Carey having two years of eligibility left, and four players graduating in 2021, Georgetown would likely have three open scholarships for 2021.

As of now, here is what the expected roster looks like:

Welcome to the HIlltop, Don Carey!
