T.J. Berger, a 6’4” Class of 2020 Guard out of Malvern, Pennsylvania, has committed to Patrick Ewing and the Georgetown Hoyas.

Berger chose Georgetown after committing to Penn last June. According to the Inquirer, Berger was only interested in Ivy League school and ultimately chose Penn over Yale. It appears Berger shed his Penn commitment in April.

Westtown is a big-time program in the Philadelphia area, but Berger didn’t just get the starting point guard position because his father is the coach. Tyler (T.J.) Berger was reportedly named first-team All-Friends School League as a junior, as well as his senior year.

Berger (CG) joins a freshman class of Jamari Sibley (F), Tyler Beard (G), Kobe Clark (G/F), and Dante Harris (G), as well as Arkansas graduate transfer Jalen Harris (PG), and grad transfer Chudier Bile. Still, West Chester isn’t too far away from D.C. and there also may be some plans for the future with Berger’s high school teammates.

With apparently all the scholarships taken, it’s unclear how the concurrent recruiting of other players (guards/wings) will proceed—and what that means about Mac McClung’s potential to return to the HIlltop for his junior year.

Welcome to the Hilltop, T.J. Berger!
