The BIG EAST is holding their annual men’s basketball media day today, virtually.
Released ahead of the event, the BIG EAST Coaches Poll was downright disrespectful to the Georgetown Hoyas, placing them 11th.

While the top of the standings came out as expected, spots 3-9 were up for grabs. Providence eclipsing Seton Hall and UConn by 10+ votes is noteworthy.
DePaul receiving more votes than Georgetown is disturbing, but likely a reward for Dave Leitao’s solid recruiting class.
No one from Georgetown made the first or second team preseason ALL BIG EAST Teams.

The season is not won or lost today. Hopefully this is the proverbial “Bulletin Board Material” that keeps Jamorko Pickett, Jahvon Blair, Qudus Wahab and the team motivated.
Looking at the recently released December schedule, Georgetown has its hands full with hosting two of the top three teams on December 11th and 13th. Visiting the 5th and 9th team on the 20th and 23rd in the New York metropolitan area is no holiday either.
We’ll see how Patrick Ewing answers the expected questions later this morning, like “How do you plan to handle 7+ new players in a tough season with abbreviated non-conference schedule?”
