Georgetown Completes Three-Game Sweep in Bahamas

NASSAU, Bahamas – The Georgetown University men’s basketball team completed the three-game sweep during its 2019 Bahamas Foreign Tour with a 91-61 win over the Bahamas National Team on Thursday. It was the third-straight win for the Hoyas as the team eclipsed 90 points in all three of their matchups.

  • Three Hoyas were in double figures with Myron Gardner (Detroit, Mich. / SPIRE Institute [Ohio]) and James Akinjo (Oakland, Calif. / Salesian College Preparatory) leading the way with 13 points and Galen Alexander (Breaux Bridge, La. / Lafayette Christian / Jones County CC) chipped in 12 to round out those in double figures.
  • Akinjo grabbed eight rebounds to lead the squad as the Blue & Gray outrebounded its opponents 54-40.
  • Akinjo paced the offense with six assists as the team recorded 21 helpers on 32 made field goals.
  • For the second-straight game, the Blue & Gray put 13 in the scoring column.

While in Nassau, the Hoyas also hosted a youth clinic for 50 kids and met with the Chargé d’Affaires Stephanie Bowers from the United States Embassy. Georgetown opens the 2019-20 season on Wednesday, November 6 when the Hoyas welcome Mount St. Mary’s to Capital One Arena.
