Georgetown Men’s Basketball Opens Foreign Tour with 103-77 Win
NASSAU, Bahamas – The Georgetown University men’s basketball team opened its 2019 Bahamas Foreign Tour with a 103-77 win over the Commonwealth Bank Giants at the Kendal G.L. Isaacs Gymnasium in Nassau. It was the first of a three-game schedule for the Hoyas.
o Six Hoyas were in double figures with James Akinjo (Oakland, Calif. / Salesian College Preparatory) leading the way with 16 points followed by Mac McClung (Gate City, Va. / Gate City) adding 15.
o Juniors Jamorko Pickett (Washington, D.C. / Massanutten Military Academy [Va.] and Jahvon Blair (Brampton, Ontario / Athlete Institute Prep) each chipped in 14 points while Terrell Allen (Upper Marlboro, Md. / DeMatha Catholic / UCF) and Omer Yurtseven (Istanbul, Turkey / Fenerbahce Baseketbol Subesi / NC State) added 11 and 10, respectively.
o Yurtseven led the team with nine rebounds and the Hoyas outrebounded their opponents 46-42.o Pickett and Myron Gardner (Detroit, Mich. / SPIRE Institute [Ohio]) each dished out four helpers as the team tallied 20 assists.
o The Hoyas put 12 in the scoring column with half reaching double figures.
