WASHINGTON – Georgetown University sophomore guard Mac McClung was named the BIG EAST Player of the Week on Monday, as announced by the league office in New York. This is McClung’s first Player of the Week honor of his career and the first of the season for the Blue & Gray.
The Gate City, Virginia product averaged 26.0 ppg in a 2-0 week for the Hoyas that saw Georgetown take down a pair of previously undefeated teams on their home courts. For the week, the sophomore shot 54.5 percent (18-33) from the floor and 52.9 percent (9-17) from downtown while adding a perfect 7-for-7 effort from the charity stripe.
His seven assists against SMU was a career best and his 33 points against Oklahoma State was the second 30+ performance of his career.
Additionally, McClung earned a nod from NCAA.com’s Andy Katz who selected the guard as his national player of the week.

COMING UP NEXT
The Hoyas will return home to Capital One Arena to close out nonconference play with a four-game homestand. The Blue & Gray will host former BIG EAST rival Syracuse on Saturday, Dec. 14.
