WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University men’s basketball team wraps up nonconference play on Saturday afternoon when it hosts American University at Capital One Arena. Tipoff is scheduled for noon. The Hoyas come in on a five-game winning streak and sit at 9-3 overall on the year.

LAST TIME OUT• Career efforts from Omer Yurtseven and Mac McClung pushed the Georgetown University men’s basketball team to its fifth-straight win, 99-71 over Samford on Saturday afternoon at Capital One Arena.• Yurtseven led the Hoyas with his sixth double-double of the season, finishing with a career-high 32 points and career-best 17 rebounds. He hit 15-of-21 shots from the floor and also grabbed eight offensive boards to go along with four blocks.• McClung tallied 25 points on 10-of-19 shooting and pulled down a career-high seven rebounds to go along with five assists against zero turnovers.• Jamorko Pickett and Jahvon Blair were also in double figures with 14 and 11 points, respectively.• Terrell Allen paced the offense with seven assists.• Georgetown shot 48.7 (38-78) percent from the floor and outrebounded Samford 53-30, including 20 offensive boards. It is the second time this season the Hoyas have grabbed more than 50 rebounds.
SCOUTING AMERICAN• American sits at 4-6 overall after falling to Stony Brook at home on Saturday 77-74. • The Eagles are averaging 73.7 ppg, while allowing opponents to score 73.8 ppg.• Sa’eed Nelson leads the team with 16.4 ppg, while Jacob Boonyasith (13.0 ppg) and Jamir Harris (11.5 ppg) round out those in double figures. • Stacy Beckton Jr. is pulling down a team-high 5.7 rpg.
ABOUT THE MATCHUP• Saturday will be the 54th all-time meeting between the two D.C. universities with the Hoyas holding a 45-8 series advantage. Georgetown has won the last nine meetings dating back to the 1982-83 season. • The last matchup between the two squads was Dec. 22, 2012 when the Hoyas came away with a 65-48 victory. Otto Porter Jr. had a double-double with 16 points and 13 rebounds in the win. • Overall, the Hoyas are 134-84 all-time against current members of the Patriot League, with the majority of matchups coming against American. This will be Head Coach Patrick Ewing’s first matchup against a Patriot League member.
