WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University men’s basketball team hosts Samford on Saturday afternoon in the third contest of a four-game homestand at Capital One Arena to close out the nonconference season. Tipoff is scheduled for noon. The Hoyas come in on a four-game winning streak and sit at 8-3 overall on the year.

LAST TIME OUT• Georgetown opened the game on a 14-0 run and four players finished in double figures in an 81-55 victory over UMBC on Tuesday night at Capital One Arena.• Omer Yurtseven led the Hoyas with his fifth double-double of the season, finishing with a season-high 22 points and 13 rebounds. He hit 11-of-14 shots from the floor and also added three blocks on the defensive end.• Jahvon Blair finished with 15 points, hitting a trio of 3-pointers, and Jamorko Pickett had 12 points.• Qudus Wahab came off the bench and had career highs of 10 points and nine rebounds, while also adding three blocks.• Terrell Allen and Jagan Mosely paced the offense with eight and six assists, respectively.• Georgetown shot 49.3 (34-69) from the floor and outrebounded UMBC 45-31.
SCOUTING SAMFORD• Samford comes in with a 6-7 record after a 105-87 loss to Alabama on Wednesday. • The Bulldogs are averaging 78.5 ppg, while allowing opponents to score 75.8 ppg.• Josh Sharkey leads the team with 16.9 ppg and leads the country with 9.7 apg. • Brandon Austin (14.3 ppg), Robert Allen (13.5 ppg) and Jalen Dupree (13.2 ppg) are all also in double figures.• Dupree and Allen lead Samford on the boards with 6.7 and 6.3 rpg, respectively.
ABOUT THE MATCHUP• Saturday will be just the second all-time meeting between the Hoyas and Bulldogs. • The first and only previous matchup between the two teams came on Jan. 6, 1979 in Washington, D.C. with Georgetown, under John Thompson Jr., coming away with a 73-50 victory. • John Duren led the way with 23 points on 11-of-13 shooting while Craig Shelton’s nine boards were a game best.• The score was tied at the break but the Hoyas outscored the Bulldogs 50-27 in the second half.• Overall, the Hoyas are 12-1 all-time against current members of the Southern Conference.
