Jahvon Blair named BIG EAST Freshman of the Week

First Georgetown player to take the award since 2015

The BIG EAST announced its Players of the Week on Monday and for the first time in nearly three seasons the Georgetown Hoyas are home to the Freshman of the Week.

Jahvon Blair is the first Hoya to win the award since Isaac Copeland did so three times during the 2014-15 season.

Blair scored 15 points off the bench as the Hoyas picked up their first conference win of the season at DePaul and then had eight points in a loss to Creighton.

A late signee last April, Blair has scored in double-figures fives times this season while coming off the bench. The Brampton, Canada native scored a season high 19 points in his lone start of the season against Mount St. Mary’s in November.

Blair is currently tied with fellow freshman Jamorko Pickett for fourth on Georgetown in scoring with 8.5 points per game despite playing just 18.6 minutes per contest.

Georgetown faces St. John’s on Tuesday at 630pm at Madison Square Garden on FS1.
