Kenner League Playoffs: Schedule & Bracket

Quarterfinals begin tonight, matches feature a variety of Hoyas

How long has it been?

It is August already, which means it’s time for the whirlwind of Kenner League playoffs. A visit to McDonough Gymnasium this weekend is your last chance to get a live Georgetown basketball fix until the season starts in November. If you need a refresher on how the players have fared thus far, vv1983 has been providing thorough recaps of each week’s action. You can find the entire collection here. Once Kenner wraps up, the blog can temporarily redirect focus back to its true calling—lunch documentation—because there is generally a dearth of hoops-related news between now and the start of classes. (Schedule? What schedule?)

Here’s how the weekend breaks down:

In the first quarterfinal game, set for 8:00pm tonight (Thursday, August 3rd), Chris Sodom, Jonathan Mulmore and #1-seed Hoop Magic will take on the Hoya-free Sam Ballers squad. Riyan Williams played for Hoop Magic last weekend, so it’s possible that he will be around for the playoffs as well. Next up, scheduled for 9:20pm, Ra’Mond Hines and the Curt Smith team meet Premier Athletes.

Friday’s slate also begins at 8pm, with GMU transfer Greg Malinowski and On Point facing the #2-seed Darren McClinton All Stars. Kaleb Johnson, Jessie Govan and AWash Associates play Higher Level in the last quarterfinal matchup. Chris Wright joined AWash both last Sunday and the previous weekend, so keep an eye out for an encore appearance there.

Semi-final games will be played back-to-back beginning at 2:00pm on Saturday, August 5th, and the championship is set for Sunday, August 6th, at 3:00pm.

Kenner League Playoff Schedule 2017

It also sounds as though the Kenner organizers know something we do not. This not-so-thinly-veiled tweet suggests that those in attendance should expect to witness a few surprise guest appearances and roster shakeups.
