While the chances were incredibly small that Georgetown could win consecutive games in the 2017 BIG EAST Tournament, technically the possibility did exist. Beating St. John’s was 50/50 and then there was always the chance of playing perfect against Villanova. I mean they did it against Georgetown over 30 years ago so these things do happen.
Well after St. John’s beat the Hoyas 74-73 in the first round on Wednesday night despite LJ Peak’s 24 points it’s time to once again recognize an unbelievable stat that seems hard to believe.
Georgetown hasn’t won back-to-back postseason games since appearing in the 2010 BIG EAST Final. Full disclosure I was at that Final against West Virginia and still don’t understand why Chris Wright fouled at end.
But seriously, the JT3 and the Hoyas haven’t won back-to-back postseason games in the BET, NCAA, or NIT since 2010. It’s a string of 21 straight games that will continue until at least March 2018. During that same stretch the Hoyas have had a four and a three game losing streak and are currently on a two game losing streak heading into the 2018 postseason.
