WASHINGTON – Georgetown University men’s basketball player Rodney Pryor (Evanston, Ill./Notre Dame Prep/Robert Morris) was named honorable mention All-BIG EAST on Sunday as the conference office announced its postseason award winners.
Pryor, a graduate student, leads Georgetown in scoring, and ranks third in the BIG EAST, with 18.1 points per game. He is also tied for the team lead in rebounds, with 5.0 per game. Pryor has hit a team-best 81 3-point field goals and ranks third in the BIG EAST in that category.
A transfer from Robert Morris who was a two-time All-Northeast Conference selection, Pryor’s 560 points rank among the top-25 all-time for a single season at Georgetown.
He was named BIG EAST Conference Player of the Week once this season (Nov. 14) and earned a spot on the weekly honor roll four times.
Under Head Coach John Thompson III, the Hoyas have had 30 All-BIG EAST selections, including nine first team selections, six second team honorees, four third team nods, three honorable mentions and eight All-Rookie recognitions. Since the BIG EAST was formed in 1979-80, Georgetown players have earned 89 all-conference honors.
Georgetown, seeded No. 9, plays next on Wednesday, March 8 in the opening round of the BIG EAST Tournament against St. John’s, the No. 8 seed. Tipoff at Madison Square Garden in New York City is slated for 7 p.m. The game will be shown live on FS1, with Gus Johnson and Bill Raftery calling all of the action.
