The Washington Post has joined the recent chorus of media outlets to do a story on the status of the Georgetown program. The Post’s story doesn’t add much to the current conversation, though it does refer to Casual Hoya as a “popular Hoyas fan blog” and offers a better look into what is going on on campus and the creation of the student petition that currently has over 1.400 signatures.
The Post’s story also includes a quote from former Hoya and beloved alum Jabril Trawick in defense of John Thompson III. Jabril’s quote is below:
Former Hoyas guard Jabril Trawick, a senior on their last NCAA tournament team, said he had reached out to former teammates who “feel like what’s going on right now is just crazy.” He said the notion of firing Thompson “doesn’t make any sense” and that fans needed to consider factors challenging Georgetown, such as the lack of an on-campus arena, strict academic standards and finding its way in the new Big East.
“You always have times when you go through rough patches and dry spots,” Trawick said. “As far as a program like Georgetown, we’re one of the primary schools when you think about college basketball and the history. We were prominent, and we won. The Georgetown fan base, they’re kind of spoiled from that.”
