JESSIE GOVAN NAMED TO BIG EAST WEEKLY HONOR ROLL FOR FIFTH TIME THIS SEASON

WASHINGTON – Georgetown University center Jessie Govan (Queens Village, N.Y./Wings Academy) has been selected to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll for the fifth time this season, as announced by the league on Monday.

Govan led the Hoyas with 21 points (8-16 FGA, 5-6 FTA), eight rebounds, three blocks and three assists in 42 minutes in their first loss of the season against Syracuse last Saturday.

This is Govan’s sixth career honor roll selection, as he was named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll once as a sophomore.

For the season, Govan is averaging 20.7 ppg, 12.4 rpg while shooting 61.2 from the field (71-116 FGA) in nine games. He is ranked first in the BIG EAST in rebounding, fourth in scoring and seventh in field goal percentage.

Georgetown hosts North Texas on Wednesday, Dec. 20. Tipoff at Capital One Arena is set for 7 p.m. and the game will be shown live on FS2 with Bob Picozzi calling the play-by-play and Tarik Turner serving as the color analyst. The game can be heard locally on WJFK 106.7 FM with Rich Chvotkin calling the action.
