Jessie Govan Named to BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll for Second-Consecutive Week

WASHINGTON – Georgetown junior center Jessie Govan (Queens Village, N.Y./Wings Academy) has been selected to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll for the second-consecutive week this season, as announced by the league on Monday.

Last week, Georgetown went 2-0 after defeating University of Maryland Eastern Shore, 85-57 on November 18 and Mount St. Mary’s on November 15, 102-68. In those two games, Govan averaged 21.5 ppg and 14.0 rpg while shooting 62.5 percent from the field (17-24).

Against the Hawks, Govan recorded 23 points and pulled down a game-high 14 rebounds in 33 minutes. Against the Mount, Govan had a team-high 20 points (7-9 FGA, 3-3 3FGA, 3-3 FTA), while adding 14 rebounds, four assists and one block in 27 minutes. Overall, Govan is averaging 21 mpg and 14.3 rpg while shooting .658 from the field in three games this season. For the first time in his college career, Govan has posted a double-double in three-consecutive games.

This is Govan’s third honor roll selection, as he combines the pair from this season along with last year’s nod on December 26, 2016.

Georgetown heads to the University of Richmond to play its first road game of the season on Saturday, November 25 at 6 p.m.
