According to Shoot The Jay, former Georgetown point guard Jonathan Wallace will be joining Georgetown's coaching staff this season in some capacity. Wallace, who was originally recruited by John Thompson III when he was still the coach at Princeton, is one of the more beloved Hoyas of the JT3 era.
In his junior year, Wallace, Roy Hibbert and Jeff Green led the team to the Final Four of the NCAA tournament. His three-pointer with less than a minute left to tie the Elite Eight game against North Carolina is one of the most celebrated shots in Georgetown history.
Wallace joins a staff that has been re-tooled this offseason following last season's disappointment and joins new assistant head coaches Anthony Solomon, Akbar Waheed and current Director of Basketball Operations (and former teammate) Patrick Ewing, Jr. The additions of Solomon, Waheed and Wallace, along with Robert Morris transfer shooting guard Rodney Pryor and JUCO point guard Jon Mulmore shows that JT3 is making a commitment to guard play this season, a facet of the Georgetown arsenal that has been lacking in recent years.
Welcome back, Jonathan Wallace!
