It's Selection Sunday! Hoo-fucking-ray!
For the first time since 2009 the Hoyas will be on the outside looking in when the NCAA Tournament brackets are revealed today, but nonetheless there is some degree of drama and intrigue with regard to Georgetown's path in the NIT. Though in most circumstances I'd rather gouge my eyes out with a wooden spoon than watch the NIT, if the rumors are true that the Hoyas will host at least one round on campus in McDonough, that will at least toss some spice on the event and should drum up enough interest on campus to give the Hoyas an excellent homecourt advantage. Since (unlike the NCAA Tournament) the NIT doesn't have any real bracketing rules, there is an opportunity here for Georgetown to play some fun opponents in a field that includes numerous ghosts of NCAA Tournaments past.
This bracket has Georgetown as a 3 seed hosting Davidson.
This bracket has Georgetown as a 3 seed hosting Richmond.
The NIT Selection Show is at 8:30pm on ESPNU.
I'm excited!
