Georgetown to Start Series with Connecticut in Men's Basketball

WASHINGTON - Georgetown University Head Men's Basketball Coach John Thompson III announced today that the Hoyas will play former conference rival Connecticut in a two-year, home-and-home series starting in the 2015-16 season.

Georgetown will visit the Huskies at the XL Center in Hartford, Conn. on Jan. 23, 2016 and the teams will play at Verizon Center on Jan. 21, 2017.

The series features two programs that have won more BIG EAST Conference Tournament Championship titles than any other school, with seven wins apiece.

The Hoyas and the Huskies have met 64 times, with Georgetown holding a 35-29 lead in the head-to-head series. GU has won the last two meetings, a 58-44 decision at Verizon Center during the 2011-12 season, and a thrilling 79-78 double overtime win at Gampel Pavilion during the 2012-13 season.
