Disappointing news today on the recruiting trail as Ivan Rabb, a 6'10" center/forward and ESPN's top ranked player in the Class of 2015, has cut Georgetown from his final list of schools. Rabb, an Oakland, CA native, has Cal, Arizona, UCLA, Kansas, and Kentucky on his final list.
Rabb was Georgetown's number one target in the Class of '15 and took an unofficial visit to Georgetown in May. Though that visit went well, in the end it wasn't enough to convince Rabb that Georgetown should be the destination for his likely one year of playing college basketball.
Even though Rabb will ultimately not be a Hoya, the coaching staff (especially lead recruiter Kevin Broadus) did a great job putting Georgetown on his radar. Getting the top ranked player in his class to consider a school thousands of miles away is not an easy task, and the staff deserves praise for its dogged pursuit of Rabb over the past few months.
Georgetown currently has three open scholarships in '15 with center Jessie Govan and forward Marcus Derrickson already in the fold.
Onward and upward.
