Otto Porter gets paid and then has a huge game

The Wizards exercised their third-year option on Otto Porter and then he went out and had a great preseason game against Maccabi Haifa.

Geoff Burke-USA TODAY Sports

On Tuesday, the Washington Wizards exercised their third-year contract option on Otto Porter. The option will pay Porter $4.6 million next season.

On Wednesday, the Wizards played Maccabi Haifa at Verizon Center and Porter had one of his best games in a Wizards uniform (albeit in a preseason game against a non-NBA opponent). The Wizards beat Maccabi Haifa 101-95 and Otto racked up 19 points, 8 rebounds, 4 steals, 4 assists and 1 very loud block:

Obviously, it was a preseason game and the Wizards sat a lot of starters against a non-NBA team, but that is what we came to expect from Porter as a Hoya and he sure looks a lot more comfortable on the court right now than at any point in his rookie season.

In related and equally important news, Otto did all of this without the aid of his new "rec specs" look. As our good buddy Ben Standig reports, Otto's old pair of specs kept breaking and he didn't have time to get used to his new ones. He'll still be sporting the specs all season long though. Check out Ben's article for some excellent quotes from Otto.
