Casual Investigation: Duties of the Syracuse University Office of Athletic Compliance Revealed!

What does the Syracuse University Office of Athletic Compliance actually do?

USA TODAY Sports

This blog has seen some great moments in its history, but its crowning achievement was the Cease and Desist letter we received from the Syracuse University Office of Athletic Compliance last month (sorry, Bill). The letter was shocking; not due to the suggested legal repercussions of producing of a harmless t-shirt, but because we had no idea Syracuse had a single person, let alone an entire office, dedicated to athletic compliance. I mean, given its history as a youth detention center for great high school athletes turned mediocre foreign players, why commit resources to something that is obviously not a concern for the institution? Regardless, we decided to dig to find out more about this office and its duties. And thanks to the researching skills of Hoya4Life, we found evidence of the only other letter issued by the office, a welcome letter to basketball players.
