Whoa. She was blonde in one of these?
I'm pretty happy about that one-week hiatus we had. I know the bloglords probably hated it because it meant they had to act like dancing bears for us until the next game rolled around, but school makes paying attention to Georgetown basketball difficult! Anywho, we've got yet another game against a subpar opponent this weekend which means we're ALL on upset watch. Especially now that we're a ranked team. Rutgers, like St. John's, is not a good team. Their one quality win is against Pitt and their other two wins, St. John's and USF, came by a combined 5 points. Granted, the first half of their Big East schedule was pretty brutal, however they just don't do many things well. With the snowstorm likely keeping the arena pretty empty tomorrow, any home court advantage the Knights have likely goes in the toilet. I may very well sleep through the first half; this week has been a bitch. I'm not too worried though, we seem to do pretty well against teams with the color red in their color scheme. Live it up Casualties.
View from the Cheap Seats - A Nervous Perspective from JahidiLikesPie:
I don't know what to say. I know nothing about this Rutgers team. This is what makes me nervous as shit. Games like this are the ones that a young team can easily overlook. Rutgers came into the VC last year and caused the Hoyas to put down one of the bigger examples of ugly that I had ever seen (pre Tennessee, of course). I can also remember a Rutgers player dancing on the scorers table after beating GU in their gym a few years back. I guess I am trying to say that this program plays GU tough on most occasions.
I think this is going to be a tough game for our Hoyas. At least I won't have time to work myself up this morning. I have to shovel about 3 feet of snow! Bernheim Wheat Whiskey Neat is going to be tough to hold at tip with really blistered up hands.
Nervous Level: OH SHIT!
View from the Sports Book - An Unbiased Perspective from Vegas:
The Line: Georgetown -5.
Ooh, sneaky line! In theory, the Hoyas should win by at least 5. However, in practice, Vegas sees this as a tight game throughout with the final margin likely determined by free throws. The Hoyas are 9-1 overall against Rutgers in their last 10 and 6-4 ATS. Rutgers gets WAY too much credit for the so-called intimidation factor that is The RAC and is just 3-6 ATS at home this season. I expect this one to be all Hoyas, all the time.
The pick is Georgetown -5. Final score Hoyas 68 - Scarlet Butts 57.
Casual Hoya is 11-5 ATS this season.
Overall 67-39-1.
