The Hoyas face Elon, a school that dropped the awesome name of Fighting Christians for the awful name Phoenix.


Much like the Elon, Van Halen has had some awesome frontmen (David Lee Roth) that were replaced by some awful ones (the guy who sang early 90s acoustic classic "More than Words"). I was originally going to submit a song from the awful guy, but it was truly unwatchable. So, here's an awesome one instead. Too bad Elon can't go back to its older, better past:

GOOD NEWS: By game time, I will likely be down to just one final left
BAD NEWS: This means I'm stuck on campus til Friday night
GOOD NEWS: Less than 24 hours later I'll be on a cruise for the first time ever
BAD NEWS: The open water kinda freaks me out
GOOD NEWS: There will be lots of food
BAD NEWS: I will miss the Kansas game

GOOD NEWS: "Elon Phoenix" is just an awesome name. Their logo is even more awesome.
BAD NEWS: They're currently the best team in the Southern Conference
GOOD NEWS: That means this can't possibly be a "trap game"

Happy holidays? HA! What a joke! Did I mentioned my tree fell over last night? Did I mention my wife left her wallet in a store in Manhattan on Sunday? Family coming on Friday? Haven't started succumbing to the central banks wishes and SPENDING money on gifts, so I have to start that up. Anyone else having fun? I know where Elon is. Nice little school. You know what i don't know? Where CBSColegeSports17 is and whether I pay the Dolans enough to watch.

You know what? That is FINE. I will likely be sent to 7 stores tomorrow to prepare for said family visit. Regardless, I will be following the game on a damn iPhone. Far superior to that garbage samsung puts out, by the way.


Nervousness Level: HIGH, but not as a result of what will happen in DC.

Long Live lordnick. Van Halen the worst.

The Line: Georgetown -14

Eek!  Joe Lunardi has Elon winning the Southern Conference and gaining a 16 seed in the Dance, which is BAD NEWS as far as Georgetown is concerned.  I am going to reluctantly roll with the Hoyas in this one under the assumption that JT3 has fixed some things during this long layoff and hope that this isn't a trap game with a date with Kansas looming on Saturday.

The pick is Georgetown -14. Final score Hoyas 76 - Phoenix 61.

Casual Hoya is 6-1 ATS this season.

Overall 80-45-1.
