(Perspectives After The Jump)

View from the Student Section - A Perspective from Campus:

Happy St. Patrick's day from Columbus!

We're just one win away from the Sweet Sixteen and yours truly can taste it. A familiar foe from last season NC State is on tap. It will be interesting to see how Georgetown will adjust from preparing for solely a 3 point shooting team to a very well balanced team. At this point any one of these perspectives may be my last. I'm very excited but once again my heart rate will be around 200 bpm. But as you well know by now: WE GO HARD IN THA MOTHA FUCKIN PAINT! #cusesucks

View from the Court Side Seats - A Perspective from OldHoya:

OldHoya was pleased to spend both Friday night and Saturday night in Columbus, and is foregoing his usual Sunday brunch to instead watch the Hoyas feast on the Wolfpack in Nationwide Arena. Though the Hoyas haven't had much success in the postseason since 2007, suddenly all that stands in their way to the Sweet Sixteen is an 11 seed from the conference that Syracuse and Pitt will soon call home. Before the game starts, OldHoya would like all Hoya fans to take a moment to appreciate how far all of the student athletes on this team have come this season, and though he has certainly enjoyed his time in Columbus, OldHoya really wants to go to St. Louis. Go Hoyas.

"I will take Georgetown by 30."

JahidiLikesPie Nervous Level:

SEVERE

This trip is a trainwreck. I can't believe I forced the restaurant workers to watch DOOK LOSE and then proceeded to run around this place yelling about an early St. Pat's blessing. #notcatholic. Nothing like being the guy that the entire staff is talking about on DAY 2 of your vacation! Today's activities have included doing shots at the bar with YOUNG JEEZY and lazing about drinking Pacificos. Apparently, Jeezy is staying at this resort for some well-deserved relaxation. Unfortunately, he had no opinion on the hoyas chances against the wolfpack. Speaking of pacificos, I can also report that pacifico beers are much tastier down here. I am averaging 5 per hour, at this point. Speaking of the hoyas AND pacificos, I have already placed my order to have 24 delivered @ 8:30 AM. I suppose people have requests for beer at similar times because people enjoy fishing here. I couldn't bring myself to admit that I needed the beer to calm my early morning nerves surrounding an east coast NCAA basketball game. God help the 6 families in the surrounding rooms.

I suppose I should say something about the game against NC State. Real nervous. Severely Nervous. We need to get out of the first weekend. I haven't had the time or the foresight to look at, or think about this other team. I was too worried about the Gottlieb-Davis barrage of 3 point shots that was promised to look ahead. I am certainly not going to go out and search for a reason to amp up my nerves on vacation, so I will stay at severe. I will also stay moderate to severely buzzed for the remainder of my Sunday in San Jose del Cabo. The mental state that will go along with the buzz will be determined by 11 AM local time!

View from the Sportsbook (via DonBest) - A Perspective from Vegas:

The Line: Georgetown -4.5 Over/under 132.
In its last seven games, the N.C. State Wolfpack are...wait for it...7-0 Against The Spread. Not 5-2. Not 6-1. 7 and fucking 0. However, that streak doesn't reach eight against a physical Georgetown team unlike any other they have faced in their pretty little Conference on the Atlantic Coast. Every time N.C. State has played a team in a class above it this season, it has lost by double-digits. By 16 to Syracuse, by 11 to Indiana, by 19 to a full-strength UNC and by 14 to Florida State. If Georgetown shows up and Sims is able to stay out of foul trouble, the Hoyas should have a similar outcome.

The pick is Georgetown -4.5. Final score Hoyas 74 - Wolfpack 63.

Casual Hoya is 17-12-1 ATS this season.
