This has been a banner year so far for Georgetown soccer. The new NCAA Rankings came out this afternoon and the undefeated men's team (10-0-1) is currently ranked #3 in the nation while the women (11-1-1) are ranked 11th. Both Hoyas soccer squads are currently locks for the NCAA tournament.
Tomorrow afternoon, the 3rd ranked Georgetown Hoyas men's team will host the #2 UConn Huskies on North Kehoe Field at 3pm. Later this week, the Hoyas travel to South Bend to take on the 10th ranked Notre Dame Fighting Irish on Saturday. The current #1 ranked team in the nation, the hated Maryland Terrapins, have a pair of mildly difficult games this week as well, as they face UVA and Rutgers. UVA and Rutgers are not ranked but are currently receiving votes in the poll, and they both have the distinction of being defeated by our Hoyas this season. If the Hoyas are able to beat UConn and Notre dame while the Twerps trip up against UVA or Rutgers, the Hoyas could claim the #1 spot in the nation.
The women face their own challenges when they take to the road to face Cincinnati and Louisville. The women are coming off of an 8-0 thumping of the traitorous Pittsburgh Panthers, a game in which leading scorer Daphne Corboz set a Big East Record with 11 points on 5 goals and 1 assist. Daphne recorded a hat trick in the first half! The game versus Louisville will be televised on CBS College Sports at 1pm on Sunday.
Go Hoyas!
