UPDATE: THE GAME IS NO LONGER BEING PLAYED AT MCDONOUGH AND WILL BE PLAYED AT CALVIN COOLIDGE HIGH SCHOOL.
According the DC Sports Bog, the summer hoops showdown between D.C.'s Goodman League and L.A.'s Drew League will take place on August 20th at 6:30 p.m in Georgetown's very own McDonough Gymnasium.
Let the trash talking begin. This game is not about the money. It's not about a contract. And it sure ain't about a lockout. It's about pride. It's about respect. It's about repping your city. And it's about bragging rights. Reputations will be made, and reputations will be lost. The countdown to CAPITAL PUNISHMENT has begun. Call it what you want, but it all goes down Saturday night, August 20th, 2011, at 6:30pm, LIVE, from historic McDonough Gymnasium on the campus of Georgetown University. This game will be historic. Don't miss any of the action as the best basketball players from Los Angeles' famed Drew League face off against the best basketball players from Washington D.C.'s legendary Goodman League. Summer bragging rights are on the line as The Basketball Channel presents the ultimate pro-am summer league showdown, CAPITAL PUNISHMENT.
A website for the event is here, and the rosters thus far include NBA players such as Kevin Durant, John Wall, Michael Beasley, and Brandon Jennings among others.
According to the site, tickets for the event are available at McDonough and at Barry Farm, the location for the Goodman League. Since this is possibly the final time these players will share a court until they are unified in Istanbul or Ankara for the Turkish League Finals, you might want to grab tickets while you can.
