Great news in Hoyaland today as 2011 recruit Greg Whittington was named All-Met player of the year for this past season. Whittington, who is the fourth commitment to a strong 2011 Georgetown recruiting class, came out of nowhere to win the award. He averaged 23.5 points, 11.6 rebounds, 4.4 blocks, 3 steals and 2.7 assists per game for Oakland Mills.
Whittington will play alongside Mikael Hopkins, Tyler Adams and Jabril Trawick in his 2011 Georgetown class. The 2011 class follows this year's freshmen class, which also has four scholarship players. The Hoyas won't have many familiar faces when they take the floor next year, but it's going to be exciting to see how the third era of John Thompson III's reign at Georgetown plays out.
After The Jump, more news!
In other 2011 recruiting news, Otto Porter, another swingman the Hoyas have been targeting, will be on campus this weekend visiting with coaches and players. It is still unclear where Porter would be getting a scholarship from, but I am neither a coach nor a mathematician, just a blogger.
Hopefully the coaching staff's recruiting efforts these past two years will pay off in an NCAA Tournament victory. I am still reeling from Pia being voted off American Idol last night.
