MEN'S BASKETBALL | Hoyas Fall Flat at Cincy, Still Get Bye in Big Easts - The Hoya - Sports
"Is it hard to deal with? I can't sit here and say everything is peachy," Head Coach John Thompson III said in the postgame press conference. "But that's what athletics are about. There are injuries. You have to play the hand you're dealt."

"We just tried to make it as hard as possible for them," said Rashad Bishop, who covered Freeman most of the time. "He was really the only person who could create shots for himself. If we eliminate him, it was going to be tough to beat us."

"We tried to wear them down as much as we could and hopefully that would affect their 3-point shooting by making Freeman and (Jason) Clark handle the ball," Cronin said. "We weren’t trying to turn them over as much as just wear them down."
Hoya Prospectus: Recap: Cincinnati 69, Georgetown 47
I don't think the season is over - with the current personnel, the Hoyas should be able to win at least one game in each of their next two tournaments - but there is certainly some truth to the notion that expectations should be at a season-low. Georgetown simply isn't making shots, either inside or outside. And without the ability to play lockdown, stiffling defense for 40 minutes (or even 20 minutes), the Hoyas just can't win without making those shots.

It helped UC that Georgetown didn’t have point guard Chris Wright. But Wright played most of the first game against the Bearcats, and the Hoyas still were inept on offense.
Georgetown Vs. Cincinnati: Hoyas Close Regular Season Out On A Wimper With Loss - SB Nation DC
Now that the regular season is over, the Hoyas will go into the Big East tournament trying to regain some of their swagger. The good news for them is that eventually Wright will return to the lineup, giving a big boost to the team. Although the Hoyas don't have to worry about getting into the NCAA tournament, they still would like to have a good showing in the tournament so that they can improve their tournament seeding.

Hoyas reserve center Henry Sims limped off the court with 5:50 left in the first half. A trainer checked his left knee, which already was covered in a brace. Two minutes later, forward Julian Vaughn picked up his third foul, leaving the Hoyas' front line temporarily short-handed. Sims returned for the second half.
GLIDEHOYAS: Hoyas could not spoil Cincy's Senior Day lose big road game 69-47
Yes, I'm not gonna lie, this game was hard for me, but quickly come to grips that I still believe. I love my Hoyas, and I still believe.
