Vox Populi " Postgame Roundup: Hoyas 81, Eagles 55
"I think in the first half, offensively we were going side-to-side too much", the coach said of his stagnant offense. "We talked at halftime that we needed to cut more, we were settling for threes. At halftime we decided to start cutting more and it was open late, so that was basically it."

C Henry Sims had more assists (six) than rebounds (three) in the Hoyas’ 81-55 win over American, but that’s all part of his role in the Princeton-style offense. "Teammates were cutting hard and my job is to get them the ball," he said.

"He was best today — and I told him this in the locker room — at his communication on defense. The whole time, you heard Henry talking. And our defense got better in the second half because our talking got better. And he was, I thought, outstanding," the coach explained. "I heard Henry's voice calling screens, calling 'switch,' 'watch this.' And I think that's what he did better than anything. Better than the points. Better than the passes."

Hoya Prospectus: Recap: Georgetown 81, American 55
The biggest difference between halves was turnovers. American went into half-time with a 9-5 advantage in turnovers forced [and 5-2 in steals]. The Eagles weren't necessarily turning the errors into points - only 4 points after steals - but rather the turnovers were symptomatic of the Hoyas sloppy play. Georgetown ended 9 of 31 [= 29%] offensive possessions without a scoring attempt. No single player was the cause of all the give aways as Starks, Sims, Lubick and Clark all ended the Lift-off half with multiple turnovers

Markel Starks, who had been confidently bobbing his head to the music during Georgetown's player introductions, confidently stroked three straight 3-pointers en route to a game- and career-high 18 points. "I told our manager Eddie Bradley -- before every game he and I go out and shoot -- and I just told him, 'I'm loose. I feel good today,'?" Starks said.

No. 16 Georgetown uses huge second half to overwhelm American - Washington Times
What was tight throughout the first half quickly turned into a blowout. The Hoyas shot 21-for-31 from the floor after the break and needed a little more than five minutes to seize a double-digit lead for good. Most notably, the Hoyas committed only three more turnovers. "We had nine turnovers in the first half," Thompson said. "I think that might have led to what happened in the second half."
GLIDEHOYAS: Slow start, second half Hoyas go hard in the paint beat American 81-55
Off the bench for the Hoyas freshman Otto Porter (8 pts. 2 asst. 10 rbs.). The Hoyas outrebounded the Eagles (31-19). Also, the Hoyas won the assist battle also with 18-12. I see so many "consistent" and "postive" things from the Hoyas. This is a good sign, but we know it's about "one game at a time". Now the focus is on Memphis again! I can't wait! "Two times is better than one".
