Louisville and West Virginia Battling for Big 12

West Virginia was expected to be announced as the newest member of the Big 12 today but that apparently won't happen, and Rick Pitino's Louisville Cardinals might have something to do with it.

There is speculation that the "bump" was a push by Louisville.

The Dominion Post's Drew Rubenstein reports that there was a "late push" by the University of Louisville to be considered instead of WVU.

"Sources used terms like ‘volatile' and ‘internal battle' to describe the conference realignment with the Big 12," Rubenstein reported.

Last night, WVU called off preliminary plans for a press conference today.

In other news, there are whispers that Notre Dame wants to move all non-football sports to the Big 12, and that the Big East is now looking at Memphis and Temple.

Buckle up.
