I don't know how I feel about this. On the one hand, I enjoy reading that the person responsible for making my March miserable is in trouble with the law. On the other hand, I feel like a dick for thinking such thoughts. I'm disappointed this did not happen earlier this year, say maybe around March 17th, the day before Bassett dropped 32 points on the Hoyas in the most surprising upset of the Tournament. I am also perturbed that the only reason this is news is because he single-handedly destroyed the hopes and dreams of the Hoya faithful. From The Post:
Athens police arrested and charged an Ohio University basketball player with assault late Saturday night. Armon Dante Bassett, 23, assaulted a doorman at Courtside Pizza and Bar, 85 N. Court St., at about 11 p.m. Bassett, who lives in Dougan House, then fled on foot to the Verizon parking lot on the same street, according to a police report from the Athens Police Department.
Courtside Pizza and Bar employees refused to comment Sunday. Onlookers stopped Bassett and told police he had assaulted doorman John Willis, who appeared to have a broken nose, according to the report.
"We are aware of the incident and are in the process of gathering all of the details. At the appropriate time, we will make an informed decision regarding this situation," Jason Corriher, the assistant athletic director for media relations, said in an e-mail.
I thought I was doing well. I thought I had forgotten about him. Guess I was wrong.
