Georgetown Sends Coastal Carolina To The Fishes, Dominates 80-61

Talk about a good old fashioned country butt whuppin'.  Georgetown went down to Charleston and absolutely destroyed the Coastal Carolina Chicklets or whatever they are called.  80-61 is the right final score for a game that was never in question.  The Hoyas made 32 field goals on 25 assists and were led by the three guards who are making an early season case for the best backcourt in the country.  Jason ClarkAustin Freeman and Chris Wright have been stunningly good this year thus far.

Clark had another masterful performance, leading the Hoyas with 22 points on 8 field goals.  Freeman put the game out of reach with 7 quick points with about 7 minutes to go, including a spectacular up and under lay-up.  He finished with 20 points on 8-10 shooting.  Wright played one of his most complete games, notching a career high 12 assists to go along with 12 points and 6 rebounds.  Julian Vaughn, who spent the early part of his week in the hospital, played wonderfully, adding 11 points and 7 rebounds, which was 11 points and 7 rebounds more than a normal man could have done in the same circumstances.

The Hoyas hit 14 of 30 from three point range, which is probably still too many attempted threes, but if they are going in, we may as well take them.  Vee Sanford had another confident performance, with 3 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists.

Georgetown plays again tomorrow at 2:30 against the winner of Wofford-USC Upstate in the Charleston Classic.  It should be fun to see how this team handles the quick turnaround, hopefully Henry Sims and Nate Lubick are up for the challenge because it is unlikely Vaughn can play a ton of minutes considering the week he has been through.
