Maurice Walker to Visit Georgetown in September

Hoyaballa recently sat down with big man recruit Maurice Walker, a 6'10'' rising senior currently being recruited by Georgetown, Connecticut, Kansas, Pittsburgh and Marquette.  During the interview, Walker discussed his outstanding play this summer, and his thoughts on the upcoming recruiting season.  He also stated that he plans to visit Georgetown sometime in September.  Below is an excerpt from the interview.

"Though many believe he had an absolutely outstanding summer, Walker's humility was ever present during our conversation. "I think I played alright. I didn't play so well at times at the beginning of the summer," said Maurice - a stark contrast to the rave reviews he received while participating in tournaments in Cincinnati and West Virginia (with Georgetown coach John Thompson III watching closely). While both his play and recruitment picked up steam as the summer progressed, the Adidas Super 64 tournament in Las Vegas proved to be quite a memorable experience for Maurice as he proclaimed, "I played well and got a lot of attention," setting the stage for his superb performance at the Nike Global Games.

Stellar performances like these have put Maurice Walker on the radar of many colleges, including Georgetown University. Maurice stated he is planning to visit Georgetown in "early September" and will be accompanied by his family. During his talks with the Hoyas' coach, Thompson shared the schools storied history, both academically and on the hardwood. He also provided Maurice with some valuable insight on many of the players that have had the opportunity to play at Georgetown, dubbed by many as "Big Man U.""
