A Tale of Two Halves: Season Ends in Waco

Here we go...will this be the last 20 minutes of the season or will the Hoyas finally close out an opponent and advance in this golden tournament of hopes and dreams?

 - Sapp starts for Nikita as Baylor opens with an easy look inside and a 3 to cut the lead to 5 and get the crowd back in the game.  Summers responds with an airball from 3, followed with his patented 'someone got a piece of it' look.  Another Baylor 3 and the lead is down to 2 - Baylor on an 8-0 run in the 1st 90 seconds of the half. About to watch Lost on dvr.

 - Baylor trailed at the half in 12 of 16 games in Big 12 and lost 11 of them.

 - ANOTHER SUMMERS AIRBALL FROM 3.  Not surprised.

 - Baylor has just taken the lead, outscoring the Hoyas by 11 in the 1st 4 mins of the half.  Nice 3 by Clark to silence the crowd and give Hoyas a 2pt lead at the TV timeout.

 - This dude with like 3 first names has 13 of Baylor's 17 pts in the half so far.  May want to guard the kid.

 - Sims hits 2 from the line after some nice interior passing followed by a 3 from Sapp (his 3rd of the game).  Hoyas by 5 with 13 to go.

 - Another goddamn alley-oop coming off a timeout for Baylor.  Come on!  Baylor shooting 65% from floor this half.

 - Really hope the USA comes back to beat Venezuela in the WBC.  Gimme a break.

  - ANOTHER ALLEY-OOP OFF A TIMEOUT.  HOW MANY TIMES!  HOW MANY!  SUMMERS YOU IDIOT!

 - Baylor fans openly taunting Summers with "air-ball" chants.  High comedy.

 - This is so bad I don't even know why I am avoiding what is probably a titanic episode of Lost that is just sitting on my dvr.  I mean, is there any way we don't blow this game?  Is winning even an option for this group?

 - As an homage to his fallen comrade, Freeman promptly bricks a 3-ball from the corner off the side of the backboard.  You can't teach this stuff.  Summers beginning to find some success inside...

 - Baylor takes a 3 pt lead with 4 to go after Monroe is stripped on 3 consecutive possessions by guys who probably didn't start in high school.  That really won't fly on the Kings next year.

 - Wright missed 3, Sapp missed 3, Freeman two missed 3s...anyone else?  Good timing for our signature 4 minute scoring drought.

 - ANOTHER DUNK BY BAYLOR OFF A TIMEOUT.  SUMMERS HAS BEEN BEATEN BY THE SAME CLOWN EVERY TIME!  REMARKABLE!

 - Hoyas down 3 with one possession to go.  Haven't we seen this before?  About to watch Lost.  There is NO CHANCE we tie this game.

 - Wright launches an absurd 3 from the top of the key with 12 seconds left on shot clock that draws nothing.  A perfectly predictable end to the season, amplified moreso by Summers' late 3 with 3 seconds left that left even a flickering amount of hope.  Hope that shined so brightly after the UConn game.  Hope that shined so brightly after the Memphis game.  Hope that carried on with wins over Syracuse and Villanova.  Hope that died on a court in Waco, Texas with the Hoyas losing as a 6-seed in the NIT to a team that hasn't won a postseason game in almost 60 years.  Final score Baylor 74-Hoyas 72.  Hope you took the Hoyas and the Over.

 - The good news is that this season of crap is now over.

 - The bad news is that Midnight Madness is only 7 months away.  Jessie Sapp deserved better.  We all did.

 - Off to watch Lost.

Casually.
