The Hoya Hoop Club is holding a reception honoring the 1984 Men's Basketball Championship this Friday, February 20th. There will also be a silent auction at the event, with a number of unique items for bid. Among the many items available are:
- Dinner for four with Coach John Thompson III and his wife
- Use of the GU suite at Verizon Center for next season's game between Georgetown and Duke, including food and beverages
- A pre-game party for 50 at Clyde’s at Gallery Place including open bar and hors d’oeuvres
- A four day, three night Las Vegas package
- Four lower level tickets to see Bruce Springsteen at the Verizon Center
- A game of H-O-R-S-E with NBA star Jeff Green
- Four lower level tickets to see Bruce Springsteen at the Verizon Center - There is nothing better than spending 3+ hours with The Boss. Nothing.
- Dinner for four with Coach John Thompson III and his wife - I guess this could be casual, depending on who you'd bring as your guest. I imagine JT3 doesn't want to sit and just talk hoops with a stranger for a couple of hours, so maybe you bring someone with you that will make things interesting for all parties involved. Maybe someone like this to spice up the table.
- Use of the GU suite at Verizon Center for next season's game between Georgetown and Duke, including food and beverages - Frankly, I'd prefer to be in the stands to heckle Coach K et al and throw glass bottles at the Duke fans, but I suppose you can get better trajectory from an elevated suite.
- A pre-game party for 50 at Clyde’s at Gallery Place including open bar and hors d’oeuvres - This amounts to be like 2 hours of free boozing and eating chicken wings. Not bad.
- A game of H-O-R-S-E with NBA star Jeff Green - Yes, it would be cool to shoot hoops with Jeff, but why pay a bunch of cash for a game that will last 5 minutes? After writing that, I'll admit that people pay lots of cash for things that last 5 minutes.
- A four day, three night Las Vegas package - I don't know about you, but paying money to go someplace that would both bankrupt and kill me is a lose-lose proposition.
