Hits at the Half - Frustrating

Quick hits:
  • Lineup change! Nikita in for Sapp, moving Summers to the 3/4 and Freeman to the 2. I like the concept, getting in another shooter against the 2-3 zone. Nikita emerged from the bench in the last Cuse game, so the Orange will be ready for him..
  • The concept hasn't worked. Nikita has zero points and is really slow on the defensive end. Rautins is lighting him up like a x-mas tree...
  • So many turnovers. So many turnovers. Wright and Summers love to go baseline for some reason and keep getting trapped...
  • Hoyas have to be the worst fastbreak team in the nation...
  • Hoyas catch a break after Cuse guy gets ejected, then Freeman promptly misses both free throws...
  • Hoyas take 7 point lead twice, then give it right back. Frustrating inability with this team to get out to a lead and increase it. STEP ON THEIR THROATS. Frankly, this has been an issue since the dreaded Davidson collapse last spring...
  • Flynn should not be able to break down our defense like that. Someone is overplaying the ball and missing assignments - appears to be Vaughn.
  • The last possession of the 1st half was a perfect microcosm of our season. Wright at the top of the key with 38 seconds left, dribbling out the clock, passing it around the 3 point line, tick tick tick, Freeman gets the ball simply unaware of the shot clock (how does that happen!) and doesn't even get a shot off.
We're lucky to be down 1.

On the bright side, ball movement is good. We just have to stop missing layups.

Summers has his requisite missed dunk out of the way already, so at least we have that going for us.

Casually.
