The Mourning After: Just a Video, Nothing Else
Can't muster together anything else but this post-game interview with Thompson the Third. In case you were wondering, there is NO WHERE on the internet that does not mention last night's debacle. Just shut your monitor off and dust off the typewriter and calculator. Or call in sick. Or jump off a ledge.
This is going to be a long and miserable day, weekend, week, month, offseason.
Morning Chatter: What Others Have to Say About Georgetown & the Midwest Bracket
You heard what we had to say about the scam bracket unveiled by the NCAA yesterday, so here is what others have to say. There is no doubt that Kansas, Ohio State, Georgetown and the rest of the Midwest got screwed while Duke had its first Final Four berth since 2004 handed to them on a diamond encrusted silver platter. The following is an excerpt of a must-read article by Jason Whitlock:
But let's deal with the reality of why Duke was given a favorable draw. The NCAA is desperate for television ratings. The $6 billion CBS paid over 11 years financed a lot of things the NCAA likes to do - stuff like propping up nonrevenue sports.
Honestly, it wouldn't surprise me if the NCAA mandated that Christian Laettner, Grant Hill and Shane Battier referee all of the Blue Devils' tournament games.
This is the price of television being in total control of the sports world. At contract time, the NCAA Tournament isn't much different from "American Idol."
Below is what the rest of the blogs/media had to say about Georgetown and the Midwest bracket.

The Morning After: Post-Game Articles, Quotes & Deep Thoughts
We lost - I'm disappointed. We nearly won against a team that played a lot better than us - I'm content. We put together a great run in the Big East Tournament that reminded everyone what this team is capable of - I'm proud. We beat Syracuse when they were the one seed - I'm still ecstatic.
Mike Wise - Don't forget how far the Georgetown Hoyas have come in six years under John Thompson III - washingtonpost.com
Six years after irrelevancy, they have won two Big East regular season titles, a conference tournament championship, been to one Final Four and are on the cusp of securing another NCAA tournament bid -- a feat almost taken for granted outside the Hilltop.

The Morning After: Post-Game Articles, Quotes and Love for Greg Monroe
It's raining in New York and I could not care less. As far as I am concerned, sun is shining, birds are chirping and the Hoyas are dominating.
Hoya Prospectus: Recap: Georgetown 80, Marquette 57
Defensive rebounding. Greg Monroe is good. There's your recap.
Georgetown Hoyas rout Marquette, 80-57, and soars into Big East title game
Monroe is the most skilled big man this rugged conference has seen since Emeka Okafor, who led Connecticut to the 2004 national championship. He shot 9-for-15 and punctuated his latest virtuoso performance with a two-minute stretch that included a driving jam, a 3-pointer, an assist and two blocks as the Hoyas took total control, driving an 11-point lead up to 70-52 with 5:32 to play.
Hoyas cruise into final - washingtonpost.com
There seemed to be nothing Georgetown and its multi-dimensional sophomore center couldn't do on Friday night. Courtesy of Monroe's virtuoso performance, the Hoyas glided into Saturday's Big East championship game with an 80-57 rout of fifth-seeded Marquette, proving there was nothing aberrant about their upset of top-seeded Syracuse the previous day.

The Glorious Morning After: Post-Game Articles, Quotes and Music
There is nothing I can say that will be better or more insightful and groovy than the rest of this post. So I will shut up. Here's what they all had to say after yesterday's game. In about three hours I will forget about the Cuse win and focus on Marquette. But I am sure gonna enjoy these three hours.
Orange lack a go-to guy - Beyond the Arc - msnbc.com
Today proved nothing about Georgetown. Let me say that again, it proved nothing. I know what you're thinking: "How is that possible? The Hoyas just ran away from the best team in the Big East!" Well, we already knew that Georgetown could beat anyone in the country. We already knew that when their offense is clicking like it was today, they can score like they did today. You can ask Villanova and Duke, who both took a solid whooping from the Hoyas earlier this season.

The Morning After: Austin Freeman is Awesome

Well apologies for no post-game yesterday, we'll try extra hard this week to post while watching Georgetown play at NOON. Awful, awful awful Big East Tourney draw, but Georgetown did what it had to do to ensure itself a first round bye. Good news is that we ended the regular season on a win, Syracuse did not. Therefore we are better than them. Right?
Not much post-game coverage of the early game but we'll have more on the Big East Tourney later.
Post Game Quotes - GEORGETOWN OFFICIAL ATHLETIC SITE
Georgetown Junior Guard Austin Freeman On how he felt during the game ... I'm fine, I'm fine. It was just good to be out there again and to play with my teammates and just doing what I do. It was a lot of fun to be out there. On the crowd's support ... I was happy to have their support out there. It got me going out there. I want to thank them a lot too.
The Morning After: Post-Game Articles, Quotes and Honest Perspective?!?
A young team with an inexperienced and short bench loses its most consistent and best shooter before facing a highly ranked and experienced foe in a hostile and emotional environment. Sounds like an awesome script for the Mighty Ducks IV. To make matters worse, this young team did not even partake in its usual pre-game warmups because many players on the team were ill. That sums up last night's game folks, no need to read what the press had to say, unless you enjoy being abused.
Is the above an excuse for Georgetown's play last night? No - Georgetown played horribly in the first half and dug themselves a hole they could not climb out of, despite a valiant second half attempt to do so. Is the above all the more reason why losses to Rutgers and South Florida are inexcusable? Yes. Sh-t Happens. Players get injured, get ill, miss games, etc. If it weren't for those two losses to sub-par teams, Georgetown would be in contention for a double-bye in the Big East Tournament instead of fighting not to play in the dreaded Tuesday games. I know JT3 likes to take things one game at a time but maybe he should also stress how mid-season letdowns have drastic effects on post-season glory.
Now the fun stuff:

Way to ruin a perfectly good headband day, Georgetown.
Post Game Quotes - GEORGETOWN OFFICIAL ATHLETIC SITE
Georgetown Head Coach John Thompson III On today's loss... "To say today is disappointing would be an understatement. It's extremely disappointing. Now, Notre Dame played extremely well. They shot the ball extremely well. I don't happen to know what the numbers are but the open shots they got they put in; the contested shots they got they put in. So they did a good job of coming out and doing what they had to do. We made a little run there in the second half and then as soon as we got it to four, I don't remember the exact time line, but I feel like they got 2 or 3 three's, they got fouled shooting a three, you know right when we got close they extended it. So that's with the players that's what the teams do."
