  • MSU Heatmap
  • Georgetown was able to overcome a relatively poor shooting day (16.3% from 3) and a turnover ridden first half (30.0%) to still beat a top 10 team.
  • The Hoyas had one of their best days of the year on the offensive boards to help push the team to victory, redounding almost half of the misses (48.4% vs 31.2% for the season).
  • Georgetown did a great job of getting the ball down low and either getting shots at the basket or free throws from the line (52% of all possessions). On defense, Georgetown was able to avoid fouling the Spartans and enjoyed a net-foul and free-throw differential for the first time in.....let's just say a while. Georgetown's 9.8% foul rate on defense was one of its best performances this year in that regard.
  • Also on defense, Georgetown was able to keep Michigan State away from the basket throughout the game and when the Spartan's 3pt FG% dropped in the second half, the Hoyas were able to get the stops that they needed to pull ahead.

Adjusted 3-pt Makes

This doesn't account for shot selection, but can help to calm down everyone's emotional swings by trying to adjust for volatility. A positive number indicates that the expected points were greater than the realized points. For players w/ 25+ attempts, shooting percentages are from this season and if not shooting percentages for each player are from the 2012-2013 season when available. Otherwise, the team's 3-pt percentage for the 2013-2014 season is used in the calculation for each player.
