Big East News

So... with Porter and the upcoming draft followed by Whittington's knee, there hasn't been much Big East news on this site recently. The new Big East starts on July 1, though, so I wanted to start a thread for folks to post any interesting news as it comes up regarding the Big East. A few pieces I've noticed:

1) The next commissioner of the Big East looks like it may be Val Ackerman. On the one hand, she seems VERY qualiied. On the other hand, I have never watched a WNBA game. Is Ackerman an exciting/safe/curious pick?

2) VU Hoops did a Power Ranking of the new Big East mascots. Graded on badass-ness, originality, and creepiness, Georgetown came in 7th place. Really fun read. If Georgetown didn't have Porter or Whittington to talk about, I'd like to think we would be coming up with similarly great content (but with more of a lunch theme).

3) Christ Christie and Georgetown's own Bill Clinton bonded over the old Big East. I loved the old Big East, but I'm also excited about this born-again (or whatever is the Catholic version of "born-again"), basketball-focused conference.

What is Georgetown's role in this new conference? Administratively, we've seemed to be leaders. But what about on the court? I want us to dominate and set the tone, but Whittington's injury makes me nervous about all the other teams that seem poised to have solid seasons. I know this is self-centered, but how important is Georgetown's continued success to the new Big East's success?

Stay Casual, my friends.
