We are merely hours away from the Elite Eight to begin, an Elite Eight that may soon be known as "The Apocalypse at the Verizon Center", as the Syracuse Orange are just 40 minutes of basketball away from cutting down the nets on Georgetown's home court. If this happens there's really nothing left to do other than petition Ted Leonsis to burn the place down and build a more casual Basketball Palace with a dimmer switch on Georgetown's campus. After years of subjecting the denizens of DC to woeful Wizards basketball, annual playoff flameout Capitals hockey, Mystics hoops (attendance banners!) and Jonas Brothers concerts, it is time for the Verizon Center to go.
UNLESS MARQUETTE CAN WIN! I have never wanted Buzz Williams to win anything more than this game today. Please, for the love of all that's holy, in the name of the Jesuit Pope on Easter weekend, BEAT SYRACUSE DAMMIT.
You have got to be fucking kidding me.
