  • FIU Heatmap
  • Georgetown dominated the first half on both sides of the ball with strong-shooting and field goal defense (75.8% TS% vs 29.8% TS% for FIU).
  • Over half of Georgetown's possessions ended in a dunk or a layup (highest rate this year) and the Hoyas were able to convert these opportunities at a 76.5% rate.
  • Georgetown also dominated the offensive boards by rebounding 52.2% of all misses, the Hoyas' highest offensive rebounding rate of the year.
  • After a few consecutive down games, Georgetown's defense re-emerged in the first half, holding FIU to 30% and under shooting from all locations on the floor.
  • The Hoyas defensive efficiency was further supported by FIU's high volume of first half mistakes. The Panthers only shot 37.5% in the first half from the free throw line and 25.3% of their possessions ended in an unforced turnover (unforced meaning not directly resulting from a Georgetown steal).
  • Georgetown backed-off in the second half, missing jump shots on offense and allowing FIU to shoot at twice the efficiency that they did in the first half, but since the Hoyas were up 30 for most of the time, I don't think a lot of this data was meaningful.

Adjusted 3-pt Makes

This doesn't account for shot selection, but can help to calm down everyone's emotional swings by trying to adjust for volatility. A positive number indicates that the expected points were greater than the realized points. For players w/ 25+ attempts, shooting percentages are from this season and if not shooting percentages for each player are from the 2012-2013 season when available. Otherwise, the team's 3-pt percentage for the 2013-2014 season is used in the calculation for each player.
