Peanut Gallery: Pittsburgh Panthers vs. Georgetown Hoyas

What some Hoyas are thinkin' about the Hoyas.

View from the DJ Booth - A Musical Perspective from lordnick:

Maybe everybody was right: REM isn't the best choice for gameday music on a mediocre mid-major college basketball blog. During the 8-game REM streak. the Hoyas averaged only 62 pts/game; and if we drop the Holiday outliers against Longwood and Western Carolina High Schools, that drops to 55.5. UGH. And that number looks a lot better than how the last miserable month felt. What's the real joke is that 48 points was almost enough to beat Marquette. Well, let's try something else.

Hey, Pittsburgh. I think you hear me knocking, and I think I'm coming in, and I've got the weeping ghost of Aaron Gray with me.

(Counting Crows might be a deceptively good Blog DJ choice, by the way. Def Lepperd is an obvious choice.)

Well they kept throwing that "10-1 in Big East openers" stat around on Saturday and look what it did. To say I wasn't sort of expecting a loss would be a bit untruthful, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't have won that game. Our defense is good, we can all see that, but the problems on offense are just too glaring. Mikael Hopkins is pretty much the sophomore Nate Lubick/Jerelle Benimon of this year and JTIII doesn't seem very enthusiastic about finding a useful replacement. Anyway, this will be the third time Georgetown has played Pitt since I arrived at the hilltop, and Parts I and II didn't exactly go very well. Not sure what it is about the terrifying mug of Jamie Dixon, but it seems to bring out the worst in the Hoyas. Maybe this trend will change, because I'm not sure it can get too much worse than what we saw on Saturday. Pitt is winless in the Big East, so we might actually stand a chance in this one! My flight gets in at 3, so I'll be at the Phone Booth well before the 9 PM tip. Come early, be loud, wear gray. Hoya Saxa!

View from the Cheap Seats - A Nervous Perspective from JahidiLikesPie:

I just don't get it. How do we have a 9 PM tip? What is the reasoning? Did ESPNU have a pressing field hockey tourney to show? I am NOT happy about this tip time. It isn't like we are playing KU in Hawaii!!! It is Dixon. It is PITT. IT. IS. ANNOYING. Who is scheduling our games, a damn mental patient?

I am really nervous. Like HOLY SHIT nervous. I am nervous about this team, this season and I am nervous about this game. This team is unreliable at the line and has a tendency to think that it is a jump shooting team (I think I have heard that about JTIII coached teams). I haven't seen PITT play and I don't need to have seen PITT play to know that WHINEBAG Dixon is smart enough to attack us inside and likely own us at home. At least I will be asleep by halftime.

- An Unbiased Perspective from Vegas:

The Line: Georgetown -1.5. Over/under 115.

This line opened with Pitt as a 1 point favorite, was quickly bet down to Georgetown -1.5 and you can even get Hoyas -2 in some spots. The smart money is on Georgetown and I'm rolling that way as well as the Hoyas can't possibly play worse than they did against Marquette and almost pulled that one out.

The pick is Georgetown -1.5. Final score Hoyas 62 - Panthers 55.

Casual Hoya is 7-2 ATS this season.
Overall 63-36-1.
