Less talent, but a better 'team'...
A pretty good article about the state of the Hoyas this year!
''It wasn't all roses last year,'' senior center Henry Sims said. ''We've grown from that. ''This year we've just bought into the philosophy of playing hard, playing defense together,'' he said. ''Being a team on the court, being able to pick each other up on the court, being able to talk to each other on the court. I think it's just a different mindset, a different environment, a different philosophy, that we've brought this year as opposed to the last few years.''

Certainly makes for better basketball...
But are the combined talents of Whit/Bril/Porter/Hopkins really less than the combined ones of Vaughn/Wright/Freeman? I mean the only diff I see is experience. I might dispute the “less talented” tag, but not the better team.
Starting five is less talented on paper
However, they are more versatile both offensively and defensively, and the big difference, is that this year’s Hoyas arguably have one of the ten best benches in the country. If not for Ayegba and Adams being out for the year, they would be one of the three deepest teams in the nation (along with North Carolina and South Canada). Far more depth, exceptional versatility, and a revitalized intensity equals an extremely fun team to watch and root for. It also sounds like it’s an enjoyable team to play on.
As an aside, is it possible that this attitude renaissance will prove sufficiently inspirational for Hollis to stay one more year? While there is much talent on this team, his marksmanship is unlikely to be matched by anybody on next year’s roster.

NONE
am i wrong, or will we have NO shooters next year. ??
Markel and Smith Rivera can shoot it..
Plus usually (fingers crossed) players make their biggest jump Freshman to Sophomore year. All of the Frosh have good form on their shots, just lack the strength to knock it down consistently from long range. IMO
i guess new greg
has shown the most upside on his shot. but markel isn’t really a “shooter” otto is deadly from 8 – 10 ft, but i don’t trust that funkey elbow action out to 3 pt land
Thundersnow!!
I think starks actually will be a bit better than clark. Whitt has next best potential because of his height. DSR should be good. Trawick could also surprise and knock down open ones. Going to miss hollis thoguh
I think 1 – 4, last years team was more talented. But 5-9 this squad is so much better. Really wish this year sims had showed up a year earlier.
